While I find the following generally uncomfortable to talk about, the issue cannot be ignored.

Recent events in Colorado have highlighted that Democrats could care less about the real world applications of their ideology and instead are hell-bent on neglecting reality to push their doctrine. If you have not been following along, you may have missed that they had passed a law banning concealed carry on campuses. This was passed with no factual backing but instead was only part of a larger push for disarmament. They have no regard whatsoever for what they have now created. Rape is enormously common within the campus environment, with an estimated 1 in 5 females having been raped by the time they graduate. One can safely assume that the ratio is hired due to the emotional withholding caused by such an incident. A few more facts to highlight this disease:

• Rape on campus is an increasing trend
• Women within a college campus are more likely to be victims of partial or completed rape than the general female populace
• Most women personally knew their rapist
• 81% of on campus rapes are not reported, 83% of off campus rapes are not reported

So rape on campus is an epidemic. The Democrats will have you believe that a variety of options have been put in place that will be effective and that you do not need to actively defend yourself. For instance, Democratic Congressmen from Colorado supported their position with a variety of ridiculous methods of defense. From using ball point pens, to urinating or defecating on your attacker, even so far as to recommend not fighting back. Democratic Congressman Joe Salazar said that campus’ did not need concealed carry to combat rape because they had call boxes and whistles. Maybe it would help to examine the case of Amanda Collins, a young rape survivor.

In 2007, Amanda Collins was raped by a man named James Biela. James was a serial rapist who had just raped two women and murdered a third. Amanda had a concealed carry permit but due to campus restrictions was barred from carrying. Her assault occurred in a parking garage within the immediate vicinity of a call box. To further highlight the sheer idiocy of Salazars comments, within 50 feet of her being raped were the police cruisers but due to the time of night, the officers were off duty. Her location at the time would have rendered a whistle useless. The campus policy enabled her rape, the rape of two other woman and the death of another. The happened in a “safe zone”. There is no such thing as a safe zone, especially when one determines any area that disallows an individual to defend themselves as a “safe zone”.

Ignorance of reality has become a staple of the lefts war on the 2nd Amendment. So lets fire off some more statistics. How about the one where after 3 years of allowing concealed carry, all 71 campuses who passed that experienced not a single case of gun violence or accidental discharge. In Texas, you are 20 times more likely to be struck by lightning than you are to be killed by a concealed carry permit holder.

In Texas, the incidence of rape fell 93% faster than the national average in the first year after enactment of concealed carry laws, and 500% the second year. 

500%. Let’s not mince words here, restricting the rights of women to arm themselves enables rape, and the left is obsessed with doing just that. Thankfully my girlfriend is more hardcore than just about anyone else I know, and I can guarantee you that anybody who is so unlucky to attempt anything, will find themselves bleeding out from her best friend, .45 ACP. And as a combat medic, I just don’t see her aiding them.

Rape and violent assault is unfortunately a reality that will never go away. Reducing it starts with raising children properly and identifying those individuals who possess a psychogenic break from reality who, regardless of upbringing, will ignore all law or morals. It happens. It will always happen. You can either ignore it and allow the victimization, or you can allow the right of women to defend themselves. Denying that right enables rape.

Also, might I recommend the .357 SIG? Sure ammo is hard to find and is expensive, but if you buy the Glock, you can swap in and out the .40 barrel for target and throw in the .357 SIG for defense, it takes about 1 minute to do. The round is extremely hot, very flat and unbelievable effective. The Texas Rangers and Air Marshals use it for a reason.
