The bonehead editors of another Gannett newspaper have shown their corporate anti-gun agenda. This time endangering children directly, instead of just homeowners like The Journal News did last month. The Des Moines Register posted a map of school districts in Iowa that do and do not have resource officers, or private security. The map didn’t last long after a local talk radio host Simon Conway found out, and went to school on the editors and called them out on the just plain stupid idea.
The story has since been heavily edited, and the map removed. How many times is the Register, and other Gannett publications going to blatantly show their anti-gun agenda before something terrible happens? I am all for the first amendment, hell that’s what gives us the rights to write this blog. But I’m also for responsible reporting.
Earlier this year, a former writer penned an op-ed calling for physical violence against pro-gun legislators and groups. Later after a firestorm descended on the editorial board the writer claimed the piece was clearly satire.
Contact the Des Moines Register and tell them to drop their anti-gun agenda.
