Numerous firearm manufacturers and accessory companies are standing up to states that are passing restrictive firearm laws. Take Magpul Industries, they issued a statement following Colorado HB 1224, essentially saying if Colorado passed the magazine law they would be unable to stay in business, and would either be forced to close it’s doors or move, costing Colorado almost 700 jobs.
“Due to the highly restrictive language in HB 1224, if passed, and we remained here, this measure would require us to cease PMAG production on July 1, 2013. In short, Magpul would be unable to remain in business as a CO company, and the over 200 jobs for direct employees and nearly 700 jobs at our subcontractors and suppliers would pick up and leave CO. Due to the structure of our operations, this would be entirely possible, hopefully without significant disruption to production.”
Other firearm manufacturing related companies like Olympic Arms, EFI and LaRue Tactical to name a few are telling police, and state agencies, we will only sell you what is available to the citizen population in your municipality or state. Here are the statements in order.
“In short, Olympic Arms will no longer be doing business with the State of New York or any governmental entity or employee of such governmental entity within the State of New York—henceforth and until such legislation is repealed, and an apology made to the good people of the State of New York and the American people.”
“The Federal Government and several states have enacted gun control laws that restrict the public from owning and possessing certain types of firearms. Law-enforcement agencies are typically exempt from these restrictions. EFI, LLC does not recognize law-enforcement exemptions to local, state, and federal gun control laws. If a product that we manufacture is not legal for a private citizen to own in a jurisdiction, we will not sell that product to a law-enforcement agency in that jurisdiction.”
“Effective today, in an effort to see that no legal mistakes are made by LaRue Tactical and/or its employees, we will apply all current State and Local Laws (as applied to civilians) to state and local law enforcement / government agencies. In other words, LaRue Tactical will limit all sales to what law-abiding citizens residing in their districts can purchase or possess. State and local laws have always been a serious focus of this firm, and we are now dovetailing that focus with the constitutional rights of the residents covered in their different areas by the old and new regulations.”
I applaud these companies, and encourage more companies to not just follow suit, but stand up to bullying by state legislatures, and the gun grabbers in the federal government. If you are in the market for a firearm, or accessory do business with companies that stand up for your rights.
These firearm laws are blowing up in their face, and the state should be held to the same standards by which the citizens they are supposed to be serving.
If a law is unjust, a man is not only right to disobey it, he is obligated to do so.
